My OBSESSIONS

I don't Link Up much but I just couldn't resist joining in with Living a Wonderful Life and confessing my obsessions!

#1 My GREATEST obsession is with Sweet Tea! Just ask my students, I would say about 170 of my 180 days begin with Chick-Fil-A sweet tea, only because it's the BEST!

#2 My FAVORITE reality TV show...SURVIVOR. I can't help it, the tribe has spoken!

#3 Tim Tebow...What a GOOD guy! I don't care what team he plays for, I'm a fan! I recently got to hear him speak and just loved him. He had nothing bad to say about anyone or anything. The poor guy just wants to be a NFL quarterback. Give him a break!

#4 My blog and blogging! Go figure!

#5 Last but most certainly not the least, all things Star Trek! A Star Trek marathon on the weekend beats out any Lifetime marathon. It doesn't matter what Enterprise they are on, I LOVE them all!

And with that...

Live Long and Prosper!

Paper Sculpture

I don't know about you but I keep all the odds and ends of construction paper that I have when I cut paper for projects. I keep it in a bucket of scrap paper. Students go get paper when they don't have what they need for something or mess up on something they were working on.

On Friday, we had ART with Miss Law!

They created paper sculptures out of the scraps we have been saving all year.

Check out some of their paper sculptures.

Tomorrow is the LAST cahnce to vote for The FASCINATION AWARDS. I would appreciate it if you would click over to cast a vote for my blog! THANKS!

It's Time to Talk...

First of all I want to thank anyone and everyone who has stopped by my little part of the this huge world we call the internet. I am so honored that you have taken the time to stop by and hear what I have to say, see what I have created, and tried out some of my ideas in your own classroom.

I have known for a couple of weeks and now it's time to tell you. It has taken me that long to get use to the idea myself because it was not exactly what I wanted to do. I will be changing jobs next year. I will be leaving the classroom to teach transition. What is transition...you ask.

It is 5th graders who need some work on 4th grade skills in order to pass a test.

I have taught Fourth Grade before and usually tutor them. As a matter of fact, I did this past year after school for a couple of months. Also, my administrators were very complimentary of me, what I do and gave me exact reasons at to why I was the right person for this job. My friends also agreed. THANKS friends!

I will definitely miss my little first grade friends and this will be a very sad end of the year for me. I plan to cherish every minute of it.

So, what about my blog???

I'm not changing it! My heart still belongs to First Grade!

Many years ago, long before blogs and TPT, when I thought about publishing my activities is when I first came up with the name First Grade...a la Carte. So when I contemplated creating a blog it was a natural fit. The name came from the way I teach. I pick and choose from many resources in the way that one picks and chooses from a buffet or salad bar. It will just become a little more diverse. I plan to broaden the scope of my games and activities to include more grade levels like say 4th grade.

I hope that you will continue to stop by and check to see what I'm up to.

So in the spirit of my blog, I have to have some cute graphic because my posts are usually full of them.
I will sign off tonight with this...
