Even though Halloween is over, we are continuing our study of pumpkins for our plant unit.
This week we are reading Pumpkin, Pumpkin by Jeanne Titherington. In this book we learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin with Jamie.
Students painted the outside of 2 paper plates. We stapled them 2/3 of the way around the outside. We left the top open so we could put the vine inside with the stages of the pumpkin. We traced the stages of the pumpkin and cut 2 of each. We used green yarn for the vine. We glued the yarn in the middle of each of the 2 like pieces.
Here's a Scrabble for pumpkin words from the story. Have students add up the letter tiles to get a score for each word. Extra directions are at the bottom of the page.
