GOOD News, BAD News

First the GOOD news...

I'm so excited that March Color by Codes will be posted on TPT later this week!

Here's a little sneak peek...

The BAD news is that if you purchased the February set on TPT, you need to go and reload your copy.  I clicked the revised/notify buyers but I'm not exactly sure what happens after that.

There was little mistake in the George Washington activity. THANKS Rachel for the heads up!

More GOOD news, the February set was #31 on the top seller list last week. That is a FIRST for me and SUPER exciting! I am having so much fun! THANKS everyone!!

How to play...

Several people were inquiring about how to play the money race games. I apologize because I usually include the directions.

I'm not exactly sure where the game originally came from but I have seen several versions of the Race to $1.00 game. I started playing years ago in second grade.

This is just my version and the way I play.

My students usually play in partners. Each student needs a bag of coins, a game board and a die. Each takes turns rolling the die and adding that number of pennies to the game board. At each turn they must tell the other how much money they have on their board. They may make trades to move across the board. The winner is the first to make a dollar.

I created the dime and quarter game boards so that we could practice with smaller amounts.

Since we have to count bills up to $20.00 I created the last board to practice counting bills. In that case, as they roll the die, they add that number of quarters to their game board.

I hope this helps others as well!

By the way,

I hope you and your class tuned in to watch Tim Tebow read for America's Biggest Storytime today sponsored by Book It!

Be sure to watch his interview as he talks about his difficulties in school being dyslexic. THANKS Tim!

Race to a Dollar?

We are working on counting money.

In the past years we've played Race to a Dollar, but this year we needed to start with a smaller amount to work our way up to a dollar and beyond.

I decided to remake the original game board and create some others to go with it.

So we are racing to a dime,

racing to a quarter,

racing to a dollar,

and eventually racing  to $20.00.

Click on any picture above to grab your own copies of these game boards. ENJOY!!
