I am going to get my adult students speaking English out loud more. They really want to get comfortable having conversations but are very shy about it. So spring is the perfect time to get them out of their (egg)-shells! :)
I am going to introduce Math Work Stations. I finally have all of the materials ready to go!

I've been trying out Dolch and Fry phrases with my class. Easier than full text for my special ed kids, and they're useful phrases as well.
I am finding my fairytale unit is great for learning about story elements and great for writing stories.
I am going to to try to not get so stressed out in the last quarter this year! Lol! I am also going to try some mini-book clubs/literature circles with my advanced readers.
We're starting a unit on outer space, and I'm using a great unit that I just found!
I am going to try to do more interactive notebook activities.
I am going to be working on reading response journals. I finally feel like I'm at a comfortable place in my reading groups, so I'm ready to add something new to the mix.

I am going to be switching over to Fry's word lists next year so I am going to start putting up a word wall with these words (I'm excited about this- finally getting away from the Houghton Mifflin list)! Carol cpolston3@yahoo.com
I have been doing them with my 4th and 5th graders in reading and math this year. They love it!
Your students will too!
Sounds like a good plan. I took Spanish in junior high, 4 years in high school, and 2 years in college but never spoke it enough to master it. However, I can understand what I hear, read it, and conjugate words with the best of them.
Sounds like close reading. Good for you!
I am going to focus on sentence starters more this marking period. I want my students to be able to do them independently.
I am really excited about implementing interactive notebooks!

I am going to work on math and literacy centers. This will hopefully show relevance to their learning.
I have just been starting to dabble in Close Reading with my first graders. As we move into this last quarter, I am focusing on doing Close Reading with nonfiction texts and am planning to expand that to our writing station (asking my students to do a modified version independently). laura.scheunemann@wrps.net
I have been wanting to try out close reading! I would love to win!! :-) erinvaughn@k12tn.net
Good for you!
I am going to use a new strategy that I learned in a training called unravel. There are steps to unravel both reading passages and math word problems.
My students enjoy your riddle pages!

I have no idea what close reading is but have heard wonderful things about it. I would like to learn more and maybe implement in my classroom
I discovered a fun app called Decide Now! where you can create your own wheel with incentives of your choice. Students gets to "spin" the wheel to find out their prize. I'm excited to use it!

Given that its influence pervades our society, it is important to remember that ‘what goes up must come down.’ It is estimated that that happy wheels demo is thought about eight times every day by so called 'babies', obviously. Hold onto your hats as we begin a journey into.
